Macrobiotic Cooking with Juliette
Goal: This class is designed for students who specifically want to learn or deepen their knowledge of macrobiotic cooking. Students learn about the yin and yang of food and cooking methods and apply it to create delicious healthy balanced meals. Class includes:
- Focused discussion of the energies of food and the different styles of cooking for each season;
- In-depth discussion of the healing properties of the specific ingredients unique to macrobiotic cooking;
- Learning to make traditional macrobiotic recipes such as condiments, pickles, sea-vegetables and many others.
Location: Boys & Girls Club of Greater Washington—Jeffeff Branch - 3265 S Street, NW, Washington, DC 20007.
Date: Saturdays: January 23, February 27; and April 17
Time: 2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.: Class; 3:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Menu sampling
Menu: Varies. Meals are vegan.
Instructor: Juliette G. Tahar
Cost: $45 per person; $40 Students, Seniors and repeat customers.
Deadline to register: EOBD Thursday before class. Class limited to 10 students—Register early! (Six people minimum to have the class.)
Logistics: Public transportation: Wisconsin Avenue 30 Bus Line; Georgetown Safeway stop. Nearest metros: Tenley town (Red Line) or Foggy Bottom (Blue and Yellow)—you will need to connect to the 30-bus after, going south on Wisconsin from Tenley Town or West on Pennsylvania Avenue from Foggy Bottom. Driving: Check with MapQuest. Ample parking on premises.
