Juliette G. Tahar

Founder & Executive Director

Juliette G. Tahar, is the founder and current Executive Director of Healthy Living, Inc. Born of French parents, Juliette's interest in natural food evolved out of a childhood in West Africa where fresh ingredients were always abundant and available. 

Her culinary training in natural foods includes studies at The International Macrobiotic Institute in Switzerland, the French Macrobiotic Center Cuisine et Santé, The George Ohsawa Macrobiotic Foundation in California and The Natural Gourmet Institute in New York City.

 

From 1992 to 2003, she operated "Juliette's Delicious Meals", a natural and organic foods cooking and educational services. In 2003, Juliette decided to focus on educational services, and established Healthy Living, Inc. as a non-profit organization. 


Since then, she has furthered her education in non-profit management, youth development, and nutrition sciences from 2008 to 2020, when she received a Master of Science in Nutrition and Integrative Health from the Maryland University of Integrative Health.

MARK HENRY WEINBERGER 

M.P.A. Youth Program Manager, Assistant Executive Director

As a DC area native, Mark’s upbringing helped shape his unique approach to education and his passion for service. 

Mark grew up as a musician, which prompted his love for the culinary arts, having begun to cook as a professional during college.

 

In 2004, Mark graduated from Ithaca College with a B.A. in Political Science. Since 2005, Mark has been teaching and managing in-school and out-of-school time programs in the District of Columbia at numerous DC public schools, charter schools and community centers through various youth serving nonprofits as well as Independent Provider. 

 

Mark has spent considerable time living in both Ghana and Jamaica designing curriculum, teaching youth and fundraising for schools and youth–serving NGO’s. Over the past decade, Mark has also done several stints as both a private chef and various roles cooking at Black Salt Fish Market and Restaurant, which he still considers to be the best restaurant in Washington, D.C. 

 

Mark brings to Healthy Living, Inc his extensive experience in both non-profit management and organizational development through his service on nonprofit boards such as the NEETJA.com, as well as co-founding the voter advocacy nonprofit, Soundfromtheground.org in 2012. 

 

Mark is a graduate of American University, having received his Masters in Public Administration with a concentration in Nonprofit Management in 2014. He recently completed a graduate certification program as a Youth Development Practicioner at The University of the District of Columbia in 2015 thanks to a scholarship from the DC Trust for Youth. 

 

As a former chef,  Mark’s culinary skills and nutritional knowledge coupled with his training in youth development has propelled him to design engaging curricula and enjoyable youth programs that promote culinary best practices, healthy eating competencies, culture, arts and academics as well as a strong sense of community among participants. 

 

Mark’s passion for natural food, music and culture defines his output into the world as a dedicated and heart-driven servant of his community and the greater planet at large.
